About us

The Lemon Tree Writers group was founded in the 1990s by Eddie Gibbons and began life in The Lemon Tree, Aberdeen. The group took its name from its home venue, The Lemon Tree, and, though the venue has changed, the name remains. The group remained at The Lemon Tree for many years before transferring to the Belmont Filmhouse after a brief sojourn at Torry Community Centre. We plan to return to the Belmont Filmhouse as soon as government restrictions during the current Covid crisis allow. Meantime, our online meetings allow members from further afield to join our writing community.

Lemon Tree Writers are an enthusiastic group of poets, storywriters, novelists and playwrights mainly based in Aberdeen and surrounding areas; though their origins are from far and wide. They meet fortnightly to discuss their writing and share their work. New members, be they beginners or published, are made very welcome.
